Hello! My name is Robin Reilly, and I am half-Scottish and half-Japanese, though at heart I consider myself simply a humanitarian. Here in Tokyo, I study A levels in History, English Literature, and Physical Education. In the famous words of Donna Tartt, 'I am nothing in my soul if not obsessed.' This sentiment underscores my devotion to social change and my passion as an aspiring journalist and photojournalist. Capturing the undistorted footprints of life might be one of the most vital endeavors, especially in a world where many voices go unheard and daily news can be overwhelming, not to mention biased!

Thus, The Mind Alcove provides a space where global conflicts are broken down to their true roots and where the work of humanitarian organizations — as well as the voices of individuals — can be amplified. In practicing photography and exploring photojournalism, I aim to further emphasize how visual storytelling can serve as a medium for change just as much as the written word. Finally, this website also reflects my love for footprints made in literature, exploring the fascinating minds behind the most famous works. At its heart, this site is devoted to one pursuit I believe lies at the foundation of journalism: understanding. From global issues to individual journeys, from the lives of great authors to the quiet stories in between, it is in the desire to understand that we connect.

Are you an adventure junkie? Get the inside scoop from my first-hand interviews with world-renowned photojournalists, diving into their action-packed escapades and the stories behind their most unforgettable moments. Not big on reading? No problem. Take a scroll through my photography portfolio, capturing moments from around the globe.
